Production of Accordo, Encore and Autoquest Elddis motorhomes is still based in Consett, County Durham. Elddis’ range of vans, Marquis Majestic are still made here too and remain one of Britain’s bestselling van ranges.

Where is the Elddis Factory?
The Elddis Factory can be found on Delves Lane, Consett, County Durham - just 30 minutes from Newcastle. Elddis offer factory tours once a year on their open weekends. Visitors can see how Elddis models are built and gain some insight into the design of their range of motorhomes. You can also talk to families who have bought an Elddis motorhome to get their opinion. In addition, you can meet the UK’s two biggest membership organisations, The Camping and Caravanning Club and The Caravan Club.
Who owns Elddis?
Hymer AG, a caravan and motorhome manufacturer based in Germany - who also operate factories in Canada, France and Italy - took over British manufacturer Elddis in February 2017 after it brought The Explorer Group (which previously owned Elddis).
The Explorer Group continue to manage Elddis under the name Edwin Hymer Group UK. In 2018 Hymer AG was acquired by Thor Industries, an American manufacturer of recreational vehicles, based in Elkhart, Indiana.
Who makes Elddis motorhomes?
Elddis motorhomes and caravans are built in Consett, County Durham - using the innovative technique of SoLid Construction. Through working with Henkel, Elddis came up with the only fully-bonded construction system for caravans and motorhomes. They use chemical bonding to make a structure built in the same way as cars, to prevent the ingress of water (which can happen in motorhomes held together with bolts and screws). By using this innovative technique, Elddis cemented its place as an industry leader.
